Claim the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit While It Lasts
The Investment Tax Credit (ITC) currently allows homeowners to deduct 30% of solar installation costs from federal taxes for systems placed in service by December 31, 2032. After that, the credit is scheduled to step down:
- 26% credit for systems installed in 2033
- 22% credit for systems installed in 2034
- 0% residential credit starting 2035
Important: Congress can vote to reduce—or eliminate—the ITC at any time. Lock in the full 30% credit by going solar as soon as possible.
